Full Contact Hardware

Dan Spitz, who achieved international acclaim as the lead guitarist and co-founding member of the thrash metal band Anthrax from 1983–1995 and 2005 to 2007, has a new project in the works. His long-awaited new musical project, in which he teams up with long-time friend Dave Mustaine, will be announced in the very near future.
"This is the most brutal sounding guitar I have had the pleasure of touching. I call it "Proto 1". This isn't your Daddy's twang Tele. You can palm mute on the FCH bridge and have no blood spoiling the evening events. There will be more of these guitars for the touring cycle being made and they'll all have the best bridge known to mankind on them--- Babicz!" ~Dan Spitz

"I love this bridge! I put it on my '58 P-Bass Reissue road axe and it definitely sounds fatter now than my authentic '58. It also seems more resonant than I remember it being. Dave Meros of "Spock's Beard", in the studio with Babicz Design "Full Contact Hardware"
Best known as the bass player for the progressive rock band Spock’s Beard, Dave has also played with such artists as Gary Myrick, Bobby Kimball of Toto, Simon Phillips, Steve Lukather, Michael Landau, Glenn Hughes, and Eric Burdon and the Animals.
Dave Meros with the Babicz FCH 4 Bridge...here's what Dave has to say:
"Installed the bridge last night and love it! It's changed the tone and feel of my bass in a very subtle but good way that I can't really describe except for now if feels and sounds "more expensive". ;-)It's also had an effect that I was not expecting, and that was to improve the fine intonation in the higher register. I've had a very subtle and elusive intonation problem with that bass ever since I got it and have even taken it into a really talented luthier here in Sacramento who made it better, but it still bugged me a little bit up really high, in that 18th - 20th fret range. . .always seemed slightly out of tune and "chorus-y" even though it scoped out in tune.
Anyway, I put the Babicz on there and problem solved instantly! That high D just rings out pure and clean now.
Another unexpected result is that I have been able to lower my action a little bit more than I could before. I know. . .this doesn't make sense to me why a bridge would allow me to do that, but I'm not complaining.
I think the feature that I love the most, though, is that every place that can be adjusted can also be locked down. No more adjustment screws loosening up and messing up my intonation or string height. Yay!
Plus it looks awesome. ;-) Thanks for inventing a great product!! Cheers.........Dave" |
